Empty Bowls Night Friday (Dec. 13) at OHS

Onalaska High School will have its Empty Bowls Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec.13, in the OHS Commons.

Community members, parents, students and staff are invited to
purchase a handmade ceramic bowl and enjoy a meal of soup, bread and a cookie. All money raised will be donated to two local food pantries.

Thank you to the following businesses for their generous donations: A&W – Soup; Lindy’s – Soup; Kwik Trip – Bread; and McDonald’s – Cookies.

Three OHS girls participate in WIAA Division I Swim Meet

Three girls from Onalaska High School participated Saturday, Nov. 16, in the WIAA Division I Swim Meet.

Freshman Sally Bowman, Sophomore Kelsey Linzmeyer and Senior Allison Carlisle participated in
the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (13th Place) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (11th Place).

Linzmeyer also Participated in the
200 Yard Individual Medley (22nd Place) and 100 Yard Butterfly (22nd Place).

The team is a co-op program with Holmen as the host and Onalaska and Aquinas as participating schools. It placed 23rd out of 41 teams at the state meet.

Two OHS seniors to sign their letters of intent Nov. 13

Two Onalaska High School seniors will sign their letters of intent Wednesday, Nov. 13, to play athletics in college.

Natalie Soper and Courtney Meyer will sign during a 3:15 p.m. ceremony in the Board Room. They are both signing to attend West Florida for basketball.

Dancing with the O’Club Stars Nov. 8 at OHS

The sixth annual Dancing with the O’Club Stars will take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Claude Deck Performing Arts Center at Onalaska High School.

Twenty-four male and female OHS Letter Winners have been paired with Dance Team and Show Choir members to show us their moves. Each pair have practiced a minimum of eight hours and their dances will be judged on difficulty, unison, style, character, flow, and entertainment.

Marissa Peyer and Peter Schneider will be the emcees for the event and the OHS Business Club will be doing the skit advertisements for the sponsors of the event. The OHS O’Club is expecting a sellout crowd of 600 people.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased from the OHS Activity Office daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or from a dancing participant. All proceeds go towards the newly founded Onalaska High School All Sports Booster Club and Intramurals. This event has sold out the past three years.

Grade-level activities planned at OHS

Onalaska High School students will participate in grade-level activities today, Nov. 1, that include service learning and college campus tours.

All students will start the day with an International Flag Ceremony that will recognize the international students attending OHS this year. Cross Country state participants will also be recognized during the assembly.

Ninth grade students will then participate in a service learning activity with elementary students at Irving Pertzsch and speakers including Paul Gulsvig as the keynote followed by breakout sessions.

Tenth graders will hear from speakers on options for after high school including military, workforce, 2-year colleges, 4-year public institutions, 4-year private institutions, and technical colleges. There will also be a texting and driving awareness presentation.

Eleventh grade will go on campus tours to either UW-L, Viterbo, or Western.

The 12th grade will participate in a senior year activity and receive information about senior year planning, graduation, and financial literacy.

Good luck to the OHS Cross Country Team members running Nov. 2 at the state meet

Three members of the Onalaska High School Cross Country Team have qualified for the WIAA State Cross Country Meet.

Blake Reynolds, Matt Hibshman and Monica Delgado will run Saturday, Nov. 2, at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. Tickets cost $6.
